It is quite rare for a publisher to sign the preface to a book, but in this case I wanted to make an exception to express my support for the aims that inspired the publication of this volume.
The project grew out of the wish to raise funds for associations that assist people with AIDS: an event bringing together fashion, jewellery and publishing, as well as the most acclaimed photographers, who drew highly evocative images from the encounter between Bulgari jewels and the creations of the leading fashion designers.
The exhibition and the book that brings them together allow us to take part fully in this new – and in many ways unrepeatable – expression of Italian genius in the art of jewellery and fashion. It is my hope that many will embrace its charitable purpose, thereby giving momentum to other projects linked to solidarity initiatives.
