Palazzo Butera — archivio cantiere

 2018/2024

The complex story of the adaptive reuse and restoration of Palazzo Butera is told here in the first person by the author of the project. In his text Giovanni Cappelletti gives a detailed account of the design and construction choices made over the seven years of work, while highlighting the fundamental contribution made to achieving the goal both by the other designers involved (structural engineers, building services engineers and restorers) and by the craftsmen who actually carried out the work. It is therefore the story of a collective endeavour, but also an almost autobiographical account of a unique professional opportunity. As the book puts it, “More than a project, then: rather a form of existential experience”.
